How reviews work

Reviews on CrecheFinder come from parents who have confirmed their email address. A moderator checks every review before it appears, usually within 2 working days. We publish positive and negative reviews alike, and we never change the text or the star rating.

Who can leave a star rating

You can give a rating from 1 to 5 stars if your child attends the service now or attended it in the last 3 years. If you visited or enquired but your child didn’t attend, you can leave a comment without a star rating. Visit comments are never counted in a service’s rating.

How to write a review

  • Open the service’s page on CrecheFinder and choose “Write a review”.
  • Write between 50 and 1,500 characters about your own experience. Use your first name and an initial as your display name, for example Aoife M.
  • Enter your email address. We send you a link to confirm your review; it works for 48 hours. Open it and press “Confirm my review”. Reviews that aren’t confirmed are never published.
  • You can review each service once, and send up to 3 reviews in 30 days.

How we check reviews

After you confirm, your review goes to a moderator. The moderator can publish it or decline it, but can’t edit your words or your rating. A low rating is never a reason to decline a review.

We email you either way. If your review is published, we send you a link to it. If we can’t publish it, we tell you why. Sometimes we ask for a small change instead; you can then send the review again without that part. You can also send a new review if we declined it for a name, contact details, language, or for not being about your own experience.

What we don’t publish

  • Reviews that name or identify staff members or children.
  • Phone numbers, email addresses, web links or other contact details.
  • Reviews by a service’s owners or staff, or by a competing service, and reviews given in return for payment or a reward.
  • Abusive, threatening or discriminatory language.
  • Reviews that aren’t about your own experience of the service, and duplicates of another review.
  • Reviews that are the subject of a legal complaint.
  • Concerns about a child’s safety. We don’t publish these as reviews. Please report them to Tusla using its Report a concern page, or contact the Gardaí in an emergency.

Star ratings

Each published review with a rating shows its own stars. A service’s average rating appears only once it has at least 3 published ratings. Until then we show how many ratings it has, without an average.

Services can’t hide, reorder or delete reviews, and paying for a listing or plan has no effect on reviews.

Reporting a review

Use “Report this review” under any review and choose a reason. Every report is recorded against the review. A review that is reported 3 times goes back to a moderator to check again. A legal complaint (for example, defamation) hides the review straight away until a moderator decides, normally within 7 days. You can also email cs@crechefinder.com.

For services

Please don’t review your own service or a competing one, and don’t offer anything in return for reviews. If you do, we remove those reviews.

Your data

We use your email address only to confirm your review and to tell you what happened to it. We store it encrypted, and we never show or share it, including with the service. See the Reviews section of our privacy policy, or email cs@crechefinder.com.
